Local government cuts have impacted badly on bus services to Ravenstonedale. Some services have been discontinued while new services have commenced. The current situation can be checked with Cumbria County Council. Note that services can stop running and new ones can start. A new service for Ravenstonedale was started in Feb 2015 by Cumbria Classic Coaches.
Public transport offers an alternative means of enjoying the beautiful scenery in this part of Cumbria and a good way of travelling to the market towns further afield.
Cumbria Classic Coaches normally operate heritage trips in summer from Ravenstonedale to Hawes and Barnard Castle. The journeys are planned to take in local attractions such as Pendragon Castle in the scenic Mallerstang valley and picturesque villages such as Middleton-in-Teesdale and Hardraw. The classic fleet includes vintage coaches and double deckers which will usually stop on a 'hail and ride' basis. Concessionary tickets are available and senior citizen passes can be used.
